In other words, the challenge is
for the trainer to communicate with the dog. The success of Dasko is
proof positive that it can be done. But it requires understanding,
patience, and devotion.
It requires that both the trainer and the dog view the training sessions
as pure fun. The objective should be to enjoy the sessions and not to
try to work and rush for the ribbons – making the dog suffer for the
glory of the trainer.
Sheila Booth’s book provides excellent instructions and explanations of
the positive method.
Another book that is also useful is Jan Fennell’s The Dog Listener
(HaperCollins, New York, NY, 2000).
